Hamza Abbasi MD is passionate about the intersection between healthcare and the humanities. He studied neuroscience and public policy at Dartmouth College and obtained his Doctor of Medicine from Northwestern University. The Northeast and Midwest were too cold, so he then moved to La Jolla, CA where he trained at the internal medicine residency at Scripps Clinic.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Hamza cared for hospitalized patients at Scripps Memorial Hospital, Scripps Green Hospital and the Naval Medical Center San Diego.

Hamza has been the recipient of several humanism honors and clinical excellence awards from organizations including Northwestern University and Scripps Clinic, but all these pale in comparison to the honor of being referred to as “the chill attending” by trainees at Stanford University Medical Center.

Hamza has been writing since childhood and has been an avid reader in every phase of life, although unfortunately in medical school these consisted of mostly textbooks. These days, you can find him writing or reading around Lake Elizabeth in the Bay Area.
